Morons everywhere. September has been a banner dashcamming month. Usually I end up with anywhere from 1.5-3 minutes I save. This month I have over 7.
I have an aquaintance waiting for a kidney donor. He loves these people.
1. Wait at green light. 2. Drag ass so next one goes red and stops the behind you that could have made it. 3. Roll through right turn on red.
Um. No words, just savour this one.

I have to say, the maneuver on the Merc was kinda pretty clean (still an arse, but a clean one nonetheless). Here in Chicago, they usually come within inches of smacking the jersey barriers at the fork or nearly losing control into a truck.

Ah, the 427. Such a beautiful highway.
EDIT: And the 409. Both suck, especially since the 409 merges into the left lane of the Collectors.

Noticed that when I travel through. People will use every available inch to merge.

Dashcams make it look farther away than it was. In actuality, that was pretty f-ing close. Just the cut off would have been enough to piss me off, but then BRAKING? F that guy. F him and his F-ing Mercedes.

That last one is pretty standard behavior in Houston (though the roads are rarely that empty, so cutting across multiple lanes and through the gore is rarely that graceful).

I can appreciate a clean maneuver. They’re easier to compensate for, and that was cleaner than many. It wasn’t as clean as it looks though. The wide-angle lens makes it look like he has more room than he did. Also, if you look carefully you can see my nose dip... he hammered the brakes pretty good when there was no real need to do so. He didn’t need to touch the brakes until he was deep into the divide, instead he was on them before he was all the way into my lane and hammered them when he was only half out.

See my reply to MissMercedes. Not as graceful as it looks at first. You may remember sm70 complaining about something similar on his dashcam vids...

Right. If he’d gone right on through like he could have, I probably wouldn’t care. It would have at least been a competently executed dickhead maneuver. But noooo, brakes.

Bingo. Though the 427 has two key features that I like, though one doesn’t apply to me anymore:
1. It’s great for the road test center nearby, as you don’t actually need to be speeding most of the time. It’s pretty sedate.
2. That stretch up to Eglinton where the Merc cut across is a really nice spot at night. No places for cops to sit, no on ramps for people to jump in front of you, good sightlines. Just a dead straight drag strip. Of course I would never use it.

Was thinking the same thing about the merc, clean until he hit the brakes.

Yeah, close, but at least smooth. Of course I’ve seen a semi do this on the roads here, which is all sorts of terrifying. There’s just never an idea that you missed your turn...

Had a woman two weeks ago fly past me (and others) in the far left lane (three lane highway), then at the VERY LAST SECOND decided the exit up ahead was the one she needed to get off at.
She slammed on her brakes and cut across all three lanes (which included a box truck in one lane and a semi in the slowest) and barely made it and ALMOST hit the exit sign...
She stopped on the side of the road on the off-ramp after she did that. I’m sure she was checking how badly she crapped herself as she almost killed herself because of her stupidity.

Your braking was spot on. I saw the bonnet dip and was like “holy shit, now that’s a quick response time”
Also, I retract my statement now. *shudder* I hate when people do that...it’s like, just own up to your mistake and get back on the expressway normally.

Toronto drivers can display driving up there with the best of them. I include myself in this, as I can occasionally pull smooth moves like that.. Typically not intentionally, and not cutting it that close.

I try not to say “I would never do X”, whether driving or otherwise... because shit happens sometimes.
But I can’t see myself pulling one that close either.
